 Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I being referred to a SAP? If you are a person who works in a safety sensitive job and you fail (or refuse) a test, your employer is required to immediately remove you from safety sensitive positions until you have completed the SAP Return to duty process.

How long does the Return to duty process take? It is impossible to say how long the process will be for each individual. Federal guidelines require you to receive some form of education or treatment based on the SAP's recommendation.  We will ensure that all recommendations are appropriate, understandable, accommodating to your resources and we commit to timely reporting with all necessary parties.

What does the SAP Return to duty process entail? The process with a SAP consists of Initial Evaluation, Recommendation of a treatment plan consisting of treatment and/or education, Follow-up Evaluation with SAP to determine eligibility for a return to duty drug test.

When will I be eligible to go back to work? SAP's do not determine eligibility to work but rather eligibility for a Return to duty drug test. Each employer is at their discretion to what their policies will be regarding return to work.

How do I start?  The process starts with scheduling the Initial Assessment and we can usually get cases started within 24-48 hours upon initial call.

Do you do DWI or Drug Offender Classes? No, we do not offer these services but can provide referrals to agencies who do.

Do I have to come in to the office? No, we provide most of our Evaluations and Follow-Up Evaluations virtually using Doxy.me. a secure Telehealth platform.

Will my employer know that I have begun this process? This is required per DOT guidelines. We guarantee quality and timely reporting to your employer throughout the process.
